(sapphire)<\/p>\n<p>Italian<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Many rings employ stones repurposed from other pieces of jewelry. <b>This<br \/>\nextraordinary ring showcases a large sapphire inscribed in Arabic with<br \/>\nthe name: \u201cAbd as-Salam ibn Ahmad.\u201d<\/b> The stone, engraved centuries before<br \/>\n the ring was created, was clearly highly prized. Sapphire, which was<br \/>\nquarried in Ceylon, Arabia, and Persia, came west through trade. The<br \/>\nstone was associated with chastity and purity.
